Install Webcric on your TV

Webcric is not in the TV's Play Store, so it is installed with a six-digit code typed into a small downloader app. The whole thing takes about three minutes with the remote.

For Android TV and Google TV: Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Xiaomi Mi Box, Chromecast with Google TV and the like.

Got a Fire TV Stick, Samsung or LG TV?

Fire TV Stick: Webcric has no Fire TV app, but the Fire TV browser plays it. Open the browser, go to webcric.is and pick a match.

Samsung and LG TVs: they only install apps from their own store. Use the TV's web browser at webcric.is, or cast the match from your phone.

1Get Simple Downloader from the Play Store

Open the Play Store on the TV and search for simpledownloader.

Install Simple Downloader, the one with the purple icon at the top of the results. The similarly named apps with orange icons are not it.

Open it once it is installed.

2Type the code

Type 112233 into the long bar at the top of Simple Downloader and press the arrow.

webcrictv.apk (43 MB) starts downloading. Give it about fifteen seconds.

3Allow it and install

The TV says Simple Downloader is not allowed to install apps. That is expected the first time.

Choose Settings on that message, find Simple Downloader in the list and turn it on so it reads Allowed. Press back.

The install carries on by itself; choose Install when asked.

Some TVs, Google TV devices especially, hide the setting until developer options is on. Unhiding it takes a minute, then you come back to this step.

✓That's it

Webcric is in the apps row of the TV's home screen. Open it and pick a match with the remote.

If it does not go to plan

"App not installed"

Usually the TV is short of space. Remove an app you do not use, delete the file inside Simple Downloader, and download it again with the code.

Typing the code downloads nothing

Check it is Simple Downloader with the purple icon; the code does not work in any other downloader app.

Then check the code went into the bar at the very top, six digits with no spaces. A page of search results means the TV searched for the number instead.
